Dr. Christine MataDean of Students

Dr. Christine Mata joined UCR as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students effective August 1, 2019. Dr. Mata previously served as the Interim Dean of Students at Humboldt State University. Prior to that, she held a number of student affairs leadership positions at Humboldt State and UCLA. Dr. Mata holds a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Higher Education and Organizational Change from UCLA.  Throughout her career, she has focused on creating transformative educational experiences that are focused on student success.  Dr. Mata is also involved nationally and serves on the editorial board of The Journal Committed to Social Change on Race and Ethnicity.

Kristin Tubbs-Jackson, Executive Administrative Officer
Dean of Students

Kristin Tubbs-Jackson joined the University of California, Riverside as the Executive Administrative Officer for the AVC and Dean of Students in 2018. Just prior to joining UCR, she served as the Manager of Administrative Services and Assistant to the Dean for the College of Pharmacy at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, CA. She also previously served as the Office Coordinator for the Low Vision Department at the Southern California College of Optometry (later to fall under the umbrella of Marshall B. Ketchum University). While working for the University, Kristin participated in multiple medical outreach initiatives in North and South Orange Counties as well as RAM LA in the greater Los Angeles area. Her best memory in providing health care to the underserved, was a 17-day medical mission to Tanzania, Africa to provide vision exams and glasses to patient’s with albinism.

Kristin earned her MBA through the California State University’s school system. Apart from her official responsibilities the Dean of Students, she has outside hobbies like traveling, dancing, being a foodie and frequenting local museums.
