Christine Mata Ph.D., Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students

Dear Highlanders,

Welcome to the website for the Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students. As you study, explore and enjoy the UCR campus, it is critical for you to have a hub of information and resources. As you navigate through this website, you will notice the various offices that make up the Division of Student Affairs. You can think of this website as your compass to campus resources. If you are not sure what office to connect with, you can always start here. The best way to submit your questions or inquire about student services is through email at deanofstudents@ucr.edu or leave a message at (951) 827-6095.

As the Dean of Students, the most frequent question I receive is “What do you do on campus?” The simplest way to frame it is that my team and I collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to provide support for students and advocate when appropriate. We are here to help our students navigate all the moving pieces that make up UCR successfully.

As Highlanders, you are presented with a variety of messages and communication. Information and updates are everywhere and are released as often as possible. The official communication mechanism for the university is your UCR email, so please remember to check it daily for information from your instructors and university officials. I also encourage you to stay connected through our campus social media channels to receive information and updates.

No one person has the answers to all of your questions. This campus has many moving pieces, and we are here to help you navigate. We are committed to connecting you and supporting you as you make your way to the appropriate resources and, ultimately, toward graduation. Our team of student affairs professionals are invested in your personal, social, and intellectual developments as well as your academic success. So please feel free to reach out to our student affairs team to help you navigate the processes, procedures, and policies that make up UCR. We want all of you to have a successful experience. We are here for you, and we are rooting for you! Wishing you much success!

Go Highlanders!
